Bunny's Best Bites ™
A bag of delicious Bunny's Best Bites hay.
|
Hay is the most important component of a rabbit’s diet. Bunny's Best Bites (BBB) is a custom blend of high-quality, locally-grown hays that pet bunnies love to eat. Rabbit Advocate volunteers select the hay and hand mix each bag.
All profits from BBB sales go to the Rabbit Advocates Medical Fund, which helps pay for spays, neuters, and other veterinary expenses for pet and foster rabbits in need.
BBB takes the guesswork out of selecting healthy hay, providing local house rabbits and their caretakers with a convenient, affordable, healthy blend of high-quality, hand-selected, locally-grown hays.
Approximate Percentage of Hays in Bunny's Best Bites Gourmet Blend:
- Timothy (44%)
- Oat (26%)
- Orchard Grass / Timothy (21%)
- Sweet Grass (9%)
Special Order Hays also Available (click to order):
- Bagged alfalfa for baby and pre-adult rabbits (Young Bunny's Best Bites™).

More about Hay in the Rabbit’s Diet & Proper Hay Storage
|
Hay is an important part of your rabbit's diet, with timothy hay generally recommended as the best hay for most adult rabbits. The high fiber content of hay promotes a healthy bowel, while the chewing action hay requires helps keep you rabbit's teeth from growing too long.
Alfalfa generally is too high in protein for adult rabbits and can lead to obesity and bowel upset.
Please check with your own rabbit savvy vet if you have any questions about the best type of hay (or blend) to feed your rabbit.
Hay can be purchased from Rabbit Advocates, feed stores, pet stores or local farmers. Do not store hay in an airtight container, especially in the sun which causes bag sweating. Always check for mold, insects, dirt clumps, thistles, etc. before feeding.

How to Help
All proceeds after expenses go directly into the RA Medical Fund
used to help local domestic rabbits in need.
| Rabbit Advocates volunteers, "Bunny's Best Bites” (BBB) customers, family or friends; all are welcome! Here's how you can help:
- Pack hay on hay packing days (layering, packing, weighing, tying, loading vehicles and carrying to the loft). You don't have to do every task!
- Print and distribute recruiting flyers.
- Bring potluck items on hay packing days.
- Set up the food/drink area on hay packing days.
- Lend your truck for bale and/or BBB transport.
- Unload and stack bales.
- Scout out good hay.
See BBB Signup page for details about what we do (packing, transport, potluck) as well as hay packing calendar, signup sheet, who's packing, current weather, and recruiting flyers. We need at least 12 people per packing event, but more is even better.
Please contact the BBB Project Coordinator for more information. Other opportunities are available (visit our Volunteer page). | Click the image above to sign up, find out who is packing, view today's weather report, and print recruiting flyers.

BBB - WE LOVE YOU!
People and rabbits love Bunny's Best Bites for a variety of reasons. Feel free to tell us YOUR reasons using the handy form below. Scroll down to learn the many ways they say "BBB, I LOVE YOU!" |
"I have to tell you — bought two bags of Bunny's Best Bites Hay at the meeting on Sunday after JarJarBinks (English Lop) ate through a bunch while sitting on the table. At first I thought, WAY too expensive (we have 8 resident buns/1 foster) but what the "hay......" buy it for the RA JUST THIS ONCE. WELL. Let me tell you. ALL of my buns, from the tall (JarJar) to the small (tiny 1 lb. Cecily) is muching this hay like crazy! Since I was tossing out MORE than half of the meadow grass/timothy hay I was buying by the bale, it's actually CHEAPER for me to buy this special, layered, lovingly packed hay from RA!!! Not only cheaper — although cost is a big deal to us — but the buns are REALLY, REALLY eating it! We can cut way down on pellets (more $ savings). THANKS!!!" » Read the entire Wall Post |
